Vietnamese tourists pick Da Nang as top destination this summer

The central beach city of Da Nang is forecast to be the most popular tourist destination for Vietnamese this summer, with 43% of respondents planning a vacation there, a recent survey shows.
In second place was Sa Pa in the northern highlands on 33%, followed by Nha Trang on the central coast with 30%, according to the study by Milieu Insight, a consumer research firm focusing on Southeast Asia.

The company surveyed 2,500 people across the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia to find out their summer travel plans this year.

Nearly two-thirds of Vietnamese said they planned to take a three-to-four-day vacation this summer, the survey showed.

The top travel concerns of Vietnamese travelers were the weather, prices and a variety of places to eat.

Beach holidays are popular across the region with beautiful beach destinations ranking first in every country: Boracay in the Philippines, Bali in Indonesia, Sabah in Malaysia and Phi Phi Island in Thailand.

Vietnam's tourism industry earned revenue of VND24 trillion (US$1.02 billion) during the recent five-day break to celebrate the Reunification Day and Labor Day, up 9% year-on-year.

However, many tourists complained about overcrowding, traffic jams and overpriced services ruining their vacation.
